“I was a 34-year-old nursing mother and I felt what I thought was a blocked milk duct. I went to the OBGYN and they found that it was not a blocked milk duct but that it was in fact a 6.5 centimeter tumor and they diagnosed me within days with triple negative, which is a type of cancer that is not hormone dependent. After having nursed two babies and having run several marathons, my breasts look better than they did when I was 18. The scarring isn’t bad at all and I have full function in my nipples. The biggest thing is that so many women after having mastectomies have to go through so many procedures and surgeries and this eliminated any additional procedures and surgeries. It was the one stop and I was done. It’s been a godsend. I didn’t care about my self-esteem and confidence at the time, but I have better self-esteem and confidence now after the surgery.
